Asteroid Field Viewer

Explore the asteroid field

We’ve built an interactive web viewer that lets you explore the procedurally generated asteroid field used in Phat Slag. Pan around the field, zoom in to inspect individual rocks, or zoom out to see the density heatmap across the entire world.

Launch the Asteroid Field Viewer

Controls

  • WASD / Arrow keys — pan around the field
  • Scroll wheel — zoom in and out
  • Hover over any asteroid to see its material, tier, size, and rarity
  • Zoom out past the threshold to switch to heatmap mode
  • In heatmap mode, press 1 (density), 2 (rarity), or 3 (size) to change the overlay

What you’re looking at

The field is generated from the same noise functions and element tables as the game itself. Every asteroid’s position, size, material, and rarity is deterministic from the world seed. The viewer faithfully reproduces:

  • 64 elements across 13 tiers from Common (Iron, Carbon) up to Legendary (Eternity Shard, Omnium)
  • Simplex noise density fields with fractal brownian motion for natural clustering
  • Meta noise biomes that modulate density, rarity, and size over large regions
  • Distance bands that smoothly shift the noise character as you travel further from the origin
  • Void scatter that breaks up empty regions with occasional stragglers

Zoom all the way out to see how the density, rarity, and size fields paint the world at a macro scale.
